Jack Trice Stadium Facelift
(Ames, IA) February 6, 2007 - When the Iowa State Cyclone football team takes the field next year there'll be a new coach on the sidelines. But athletic director Jamie Pollard eventually wants a new look stadium too. Today, he took those plans to the Iowa Board of Regents. Pollard says he wants to have the first phase finished by the 2008 football season. It'll cost 19 and a half million dollars and add 22 new suites which will contribute about 800 thousand dollars a year in revenue. The project will also put operational windows on all existing suites, renovate the Cyclone Club, and tear down the concession/restroom building on the east side of the stadium, where the school hopes to someday close the bowl. And one item that was fast-tracked from phase two up to phase one should be a relief to everyone familiar with Jack Trice Stadium.
Mayfair lady
If restaurants were people, Scott's in Mayfair would be an old duchess, one who has just taken a bloody expensive trip to Harley Street for some serious cosmetic surgery. When the stitches heal and the swelling subsides - bear with me here - the old girl should look as good as old. Scott's, which opened on the Haymarket in 1851 and moved to its present site in 1968, could become again one of London's great fish restaurants. The new owners also own the Ivy and Le Caprice. They certainly have the experience to get it right. For now, though, it requires a serious bit of nursing. .
