Facelift for Cleveland Hotel

Crews this week began the extensive restoration process at the Cleveland Hotel, a circa-1900 building at State Street and Cleveland Court in the city's downtown district. Security fence has been installed around most of the building, and several loads of trash have already been hauled out by a team of 18 workers, said Don Longwell, of Lighthouse Historic Development Inc., the hotel's owner.

Lighthouse, which specializes in revitalizing historic buildings, bought the hotel in 2005. "It's exciting," Longwell said Tuesday of the project's long-awaited start.

The priority is to prepare some of the five ground level storefronts for tenants, Longwell said. Snap Fitness, a franchise exercise center, will use two of the five retail facilities, he said. Work on the fitness center's new digs could be finished by early May, Longwell said.

Latino Plastic Surgeon Is the New Face on Popular Reality Series ...

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- John Diaz, MD is changing the face of how we view plastic surgeons in Beverly Hills. Combining his Dominican background and extensive cosmetic surgery training, Dr. Diaz sets a novel angle on Latino beauty and cosmetic surgery in his practice.

With the popularity of cosmetic surgery shows coupled with the never-ending desire for self-improvement, interest in cosmetic surgery continues to increase with the general population. With this, the trend for plastic surgery among Latinos has also been growing in leaps and bounds. To no great surprise, from 2000 and 2004, the total number of cosmetic procedures performed on U.S. Hispanics jumped by 49 percent, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). In 2005, Latinos accounted for nearly 10% of all plastic surgery procedures across the US -- leading all minority groups.

Chinese Man Convinces New Wife To Have Plastic Surgery To Resemble ...

Beijing, China (AHN) - A man in China has convinced his new wife to undergo plastic surgery so she could resemble his dead first wife. Zhao Gang, 32 from Chongqing city, China, lost his first wife in a car accident three years ago and now wants his new wife to look exactly like her dead wife.

Zhao told the Chongqing Business News, "I recovered after staying in hospital for half a year and I wish I could have died with her."

But extreme pressure from Zhao's parents forced him to remarry in July. "I got married only because she looks a bit like her and I want to have a chance to make up for my mistakes," says Zhao.

Now, he wants his new bride to undergo plastic surgery so she would really resemble his dead wife. Fortunately for him, his second wife agreed to his suggestion.

Toyota Unleashes All-New 2008 Scion xB

It was the car that put "box" in "econobox" and now it has received a mild facelift. The 2008 Scion xB still has the same square proportions as its predecessor, but it appears to have moved ever so slightly upscale. By some accounts, it looks like a shoebox on wheels, and perhaps that is a large part of its appeal. After all, what shape is more efficient in terms of cargo space than that of a square. The Scion xB "urban ulitity vehicle", as that moniker suggests, was never meant to tackle the rugged outdoors. Instead, it is supposed to be infinitely useful for us city-dwellers driving on those paved roads. The new xB is larger, responding to requests from customers for a "bigger box." Even so, it has "soft angles", "elongated headlamps", and "pronounced fenders." The single backup light on the left bumper is an interesting touch.
