Doctors Can Work Without Malpractice Insurance

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Marcia Beaird's life changed forever about a year and a half ago. She has to wear a pressure garment for the rest of her life. It's basically a body suit that helps keep the swelling down.

From her breasts on down to her ankles she is covered with scars. She lost her skin because of a flesh eating bacteria infection.

Beaird says she got the infection after she had liposuction. She says her doctor used unsterile instruments in the surgery.

"I have to be able to go forward and not let this eat at me inside. It's hard sometimes," says Beaird who has hired an attorney and is in the early stages of taking legal action against her doctor.

Beaird says she realizes she will get little if anything in her case. Her doctor is one of the more than 2,000 doctors statewide that elect not to carry medical malpractice insurance.

Has Jessica Simpson Had Plastic Surgery?

Los Angeles (eCanadaNow) - Jessica Simpson has had a nose job, chin job, lip job, cheek job and an eye job, according to Us Weekly.

"The upper lids look elevated, giving her a more youthful appearance," New York City surgeon Geoffrey W. Tobias, was quoted as saying. He speculates that Simpson opted for Botox injections or fat injections to lift her lids.

An insider told Life&Style last week that Jess and sister Ashlee Simpson recently made a lip plumping appointment with Dr. Raj Kanodia.

"They went there together to get their lips injected again with Restylane," says the insider.

Pointing to some uneveness, NYC plastic surgeon Zachary Gerut said, "Her chin has some ripples, which can be caused by inappropriate Botox or an implant that didn't heal well — not necessarily the doctor's fault."

The ‘Dukes Of Hazard' star is photographed almost daily which would make the stories seem unlikely.

Barrett-Jackson Auction 2007 Preview

When you travel all year, as I do covering the NASCAR Nextel Cup circuit, the thought of spending another full week on the road, especially during the offseason, might not sound appealing. But this week is unlike any other on the calendar: It's Barrett-Jackson week, arguably the most fun a true diehard car geek can possibly have. The 36th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event, which runs from Jan. 15-21, will attract more than 250,000 visitors, thousands of bidders and more than 1,200 cars. For a car guy, this is nirvana, the automotive equivalent of getting to hang with Hef at the Playboy Mansion for a week. Cars everywhere. Cars to fall in love with. Cars to lust after. Cars that will make your jaw drop. Cars you dreamed about as a kid, cars that made history. And cars not just in quantity, but quality.

Old Shopping Malls Require Much More Than Cosmetic Surgery

At the University of Maryland a few years ago, an architecture student undertook an unusual master's thesis project: the functional and aesthetic redesign of a strip shopping area in suburban Maryland.

The goal was to transform a low-density, auto-dominated, formless agglomeration of buildings, roads and parking lots into a more attractive, denser, pedestrian-friendly spot with housing and work space, as well as shopping.
