A new breast reduction technique has brought relief to African American women who need breast reduction surgery but are afraid of the risk of scarring. An article published in the latest issue of the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery journal reports that a new liposuction technique may bring a solution. According to the article, liposuction breast reduction offers darker skinned women who are more prone to scarring a scarless alternative. The article states however, that this procedure is primarily for women who experience pain from too large breasts and not for cosmetic purposes. Liposuction breast reduction is not ideal for restoring firmness to sagging breasts. The procedure, unlike traditional breast reduction surgery cannot reduce breast size by much.

Former plastic surgeon to serve 20 months in jail
BRIDGEPORT - A former Westport plastic surgeon was sentenced yesterday to 20 months in prison for tax evasion, health-care fraud and hiding money skimmed from his medical practice.
Steven Herman, who had offices in Norwalk and Manhattan, also was sentenced to two years of supervised release and a $60,000 fine under a plea agreement.

Fugitive stopped, held on drug charge
The trooper reportedly spotted the 1991 Jeep Cherokee on a Salem street after 6:15 p.m. Saturday and stopped Castaneda-Perez. Police said the stop resulted in the seizure of 9 ounces of meth. Castaneda-Perez was arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, and as a fugitive. He is wanted on an outstanding child-rape warrant in Washington state, according to the Oregon State Police. Information was not available about the incident that led to the Washington warrant. But according to an Oregon State Police statement, a second-degree rape under Washington law involves a victim between ages 12 and 14, and the offender is at least 36 months older than the victim. -- Timothy Alex Akimoff .
